Making Storage Possible

For years, we lived in an incredibly cramped home, and it was difficult to know what to do. We didn't have enough space to do a lot of different things, so I started thinking about alternatives. I realized that it might be a better option to look for a storage facility that would be able to help us, and so I started going through listings online to find the right company. I found a great storage facility about a block away from our home, and they were great to work with. I was able to rent a unit over the phone, and I wanted to make a blog all about making storage possible, even when you are low on time or money.

Is Hiring Residential Movers Worth It?

There's no getting around it—moving takes time and money. It doesn't matter if you're moving across the street, to another town, or another state.

As you look for ways to cut costs, you may wonder whether hiring residential movers is worth it and whether you could save money by completing the move yourself. To help you make up your mind, this post focuses on the critical factors to consider before hiring professional residential moving services. Read on.

Consider Your Timeline

Time is usually one of the biggest scarcities when most people are moving. Perhaps you're moving to another state to start a new job, and you only have one month to move. Or maybe you have already sold your current home, and the new owners are looking to move in soon. In such cases, you need to move fast, so the professional help of movers will come in handy.

If you're moving as a family, you need to consider the schedules of other members too. Everyone should be honest about how much time they can dedicate to the move. If everyone has unlimited time to organize, wrap, pack, load, transport, and unload your belongings, then you may be able to handle the move yourself. But if you don't have time or don't want to spend all your time packing boxes, hiring residential movers will be worth it.

Consider the Costs

A DIY move doesn't come with a service fee, like when hiring professional movers. But you have to consider all the costs involved to make your move a success. You'll probably need to buy moving boxes, tapes, and packing paper. Then you have to rent a moving truck plus other moving equipment like dollies and furniture pads. And, of course, the moving truck will need gas.

If your buddies are helping you, you'll need to thank them somehow. This can be as simple as buying them pizza or paying for their accommodation if you need to stop along the way. While these costs may sound small, they add up to form an enormous expense. In the end, you might realize it's cheaper to hire residential movers.

Consider Your Physical Ability

Lifting a chair or carrying a box may not be a big deal to you. But a residential move is going to take more than that. How comfortable are you lifting and carrying your household appliances, like the refrigerator, washing machine, and dresser? What about furniture items like the sofa, dining table, and king-size bed?

Understand that moving all these items can take a physical toll on you. And, even if your family members are helping you, the truth is they aren't professional movers. There is always the risk that one of you will pull a muscle or hurt your back. Overall, if you're moving large or heavy items, there is no need to risk your safety. Hiring residential movers will be worth it!
